Corey Dougherty (Founder)

Greetings, I’m Corey Dougherty, and I’m honored to serve as the national president of the Wounded Veteran’s Waterfowl Club. As a dedicated First Sergeant in the Army, currently stationed at Fort Wainwright, Alaska, my life has been a journey marked by service, love for the outdoors, and a deep commitment to the well-being of fellow veterans.

The genesis of the Wounded Veteran’s Waterfowl Club was driven by a profound desire to give back to those who have made significant sacrifices for our nation. Through my experiences, I’ve witnessed firsthand the therapeutic and transformative power of nature. The great outdoors has an incredible ability to connect and heal our veterans that have given so much to our country.

For me, the heart of our organization lies in the comradery and exhilaration shared in the blind during waterfowl hunts. The bonds formed and the sense of unity that come from working together in the field are unparalleled. It’s this unique blend of excitement, togetherness, and shared passion that fuels my own healing journey.

My roots run deep in outdoor traditions. I was fortunate to grow up in an environment where outdoor activities were not just a pastime, but a way of life. These traditions were passed down through generations, and I am committed to passing them on to other outdoorsmen and women, especially those who have served our nation.

I invite you to join us on this remarkable journey, as we explore the healing power of nature, celebrate the great outdoors, and foster a strong sense of community among veterans. Together, we can make a positive impact, sharing the invaluable lessons of resilience, camaraderie, and the enduring spirit of service.

Moose AKA MooMoo

Hello, I’m delighted to introduce you to a very special member of our team, the one and only Moose or MooMoo. This handsome and spirited chocolate male Labrador, at the age of 5, hails from Anchorage, Alaska, where his journey as a beloved member of our team began.

Moose’s story is one of remarkable transformation and unwavering love. Adopted from an Airforce family, he initially struggled with a touch of gun shyness. However, through dedication, patience, and a whole lot of love, he blossomed into the remarkable bird dog he is today.

Moose’s true calling is waterfowl hunting. It’s as if he has an innate understanding of the thrill and challenge that comes with hunting in the great outdoors. The moment he senses the anticipation of a hunting trip, his excitement is palpable.

But beyond his serious side as a waterfowl hunting aficionado, MooMoo has a playful and endearing personality that wins the hearts of everyone he meets. His all-time favorite pastimes include going on truck rides, with his ears flapping in the wind, and of course, the magic words “squirrel” and “bird.” The mere utterance of these words is like music to his ears, and he’s always ready to spring into action, whether it’s chasing a squirrel up a tree or retrieving a bird during a hunt.

MooMoo is not just a dog; he’s a source of endless joy, laughter, and love in our lives. He’s a loyal companion, a tireless playmate, and a reminder that every challenge can be overcome with patience and unwavering devotion.
