Billy Davis

My name is Billy Davis, Washington Chapter President. Born in Southern Illinois and raised in Eastern Kansas. I spent most of my younger life fishing and got interested in hunting 10 years ago. Since I started hunting I have been obsessed with the sport, water fowling is my favorite. I hunt every weekend, and any other spare moment I can. I believe in helping other’s get involved in the sport, which is why I chose to help this wonderful organization.
Even though I have been in the sport a short time, I have gained a lot of useful information that I can pass on to others. Other organizations that I currently help with are: South Platte Delta Chapters and Southern Arkansas River Valley Delta Chapter. By helping the Wounded Veterans Waterfowl Club, I am able to give back to the Soldiers whom have sacrificed so much in order for us to live in the greatest country in the world. Their sacrifice gives us the ability to enjoy the sport many of us love so much. Let’s load up the dog and the dekes and stack some up!

Steve Thale

Howdy my name is Steve Thale. I was born and raised in Montana. I have been hunting since I was 12 mostly big game and some upland birds. I have been fortunate enough to harvest some beautiful whitetails and a few elk.  I joined the army in 2003 and have had three tours to Iraq and one to Korea. I have only been hunting waterfowl since 2010 but once I went i was head over heels. I love anything and everything outdoors and love sharing my passions with my kiddos.

Tom RassmussenMy name is Tom Rasmussen. I currently live in Carrollton Texas. I spent 9 years in the Army as a Scout and got out in December of 2013. I am originally from way up north in Minnesota. I grew up deer hunting and pheasant hunting the prairies of the north. I shot my first duck around ten years ago, on Fort Bragg, NC. The moment it folded and hit the water I was hooked. I have taught myself most of everything and have most definitely learned the hard way on most occasions. It’s an addiction that takes up almost all of my free time during the season. I have been hunting the mountains and ponds of Colorado for the last 6 years but now I’m chasing ducks in Texas. I have hunted just about every corner of the state and have come to learn it very well. I love nothing more than bringing new people to the sport and watch their faces light up when they shoot their first bird or watch their first big flock come screaming into the spread. I think helping our fellow veterans is one of the biggest responsibilities we have and can I can’t wait to get started.

Tony
My name is Anthony Bertolino, most of my friends call me Tony.  I am 28 years old. I was born in the great state of New Jersey and did most of my growing up there as well. I joined the Navy in 2008 and I’m still active duty. I have cruised three times and traveled far and wide throughout the globe. As for hunting I am relatively new. I started to waterfowl roughly three years ago now and I got hooked on it from the very first day. Pretty sure I will be in the business of waterfowl until I am knee deep in the grave. I have not hunted much outside of waterfowl and upland birds however as I grow as a hunter I do want to add big game to the menu. Really looking forward to preparing through the spring for next fall to get more new blood out in the fields and in the blinds to hopefully share in what has become my passion.
Rick Gardner

Born and raised right here in the Skagit valley area, Rick knows a lot of the farmers. Rick grew up hunting with his Dad and uncle and shot his first deer at age 11. He picked up archery hunting at age 21 and has shot many deer, pheasant, turkey, and raccoon since then. Rick really got serious into hunting waterfowl in 1996 when living in Idaho and he brought that passion back to Washington when he moved back home a few years later. He says he loves the challenge of calling and decoying snow geese and ducks. He has a wide variety of decoys and is constantly searching forums and blogs for the next new thing to try. Rick spends many late nights in his garage hand-turning duck and goose calls on his lathe. He lives and breathe waterfowl hunting and says living in the La Conner area gives him a great advantage to scouting the fields and water holes for birds. Rick has spent many years photographing wildlife, which he says is a great way to learn their habits.

Benjamin Kohler

My name is Benjamin Kohler, I am 32 years old and happily married to my wife Rosie with whom I have four children with. I was in the Army for just over 7 years of active duty. While I was in the Army I served as a DART squad leader in Iraq as well as a helicopter powerplant repairer conducting maintenance on all Army type helicopters. My service in the military was cut short when I was involved in hard landing /crash in a helicopter. I was later medically retired from the Army due to my injuries. After several years of physical therapy my walking has become a lot better. Waterfowl is where my passion lies. I love to call in the ducks and geese close and really enjoy watching them work. I always love introducing new hunters to this experience and see their face as the duck’s dive in. Studying waterfowl in the off season has greatly increased my experience and changed how I look at them.

For me hunting and fishing is more than just a sport, its therapy. Over the years I have seen different VA therapist for PTSD, but nothing makes me feel more like myself (normal) than in the field chasing another adventure. I know there are many others with many more years of experience than me. What I lack in the years I make up for with determination, drive, and the love of hunting. Currently I’m in school pursuing a degree in digital entertainment in film. So, when I do not have a gun or bow with me I can still shoot them with a camera. I know what it’s like to be told you’re broken, and fighting with PTSD day in and day out. Traditional therapy just doesn’t cut it for many service members, but simply sitting in a duck blind with other veterans just enjoying the moment (feeling normal) for once, can change someone’s life.

Ryan Cooley
Ryan Cooley
My name is Ryan Cooley. I was on active duty and served as an Infantrymen and was stationed at Ft. Drum, Ft. Carson, and Ft. Irwin. I received a purple hurt and am now on VA disability for my injuries. I am an active outdoorsman and love chasing waterfowl! If it flies, it dies and if the feet are hangin, we bangin. I look forward to putting my fellow vets on successful hunts. Until Valhalla, I’ll see you in the goose field!

I am Devin Helgeland. I was born and raised on the western slope. I have enjoyed the outdoors since I was a kid. From fishing to big game hunting to waterfowl. Waterfowl has been the most recent adventure which has led me to meeting a lot of great people. Started hunting waterfowl in 2015 with a friend been hooked ever since. In my travels I started hunting with a couple vets which led to meeting more good people and then to this club. Figured I might as well help to give back to those that are and have served.
